Think Pink
It all started in 2016 when Pantone named Rose Quartz colour of the year, the soft blush shade made its way into every Instagram feed, shopping bags and book covers, with brands like Acne, Pop & Suki, Glossier and Mansur Gavriel making it their trademark colour. The resurgence of the dreamy hue, named Millennial Pink or Tumblr Pink ranges from blush to salmon and is not only generally appealing to the eye, it also raises an element of nostalgia. While the colour used to define gender and be associated with words like "girly" "princess" and "pretty" Millennial Pink has now become synonymous with the #girlgang #girlpower movement and a new wave of feminism that is redefining femininity and challenging traditional expectations. The idea is that although the colour is soft and delicate, we who now wear it can also be strong and independent.
From political symbols to high street sell-outs the think pink movement has made its way into all aspects of our lives. With the new drink of choice being Frosé and grapefruit garnished gin, Jasmine Dowling giving us major bedroom envy with her endless picture perfect photos of her pink linen sheets, pastel-hued marketing material actually becoming part of our decor - think of those Mecca Cosmetica or Acne shopping bags, to our wardrobes which are moving away from the monochrome and Normcore approach to give way to something a bit more fresh and playful. One item that is currently on high repeat in my wardrobe is this distressed pink rose t-shirt by Hello Parry, and although I style it in many different ways, this would have to be one of my favourite looks. Feminine yet grunge, delicate yet strong this outfit is all about contrasts - much like pink's association today. From the stark black tones to tough hardware and heavy textures, I loved putting an edgy and unexpected spin on this "pretty" tee.
