Phuong My at Telstra Perth Fashion Festival

Delightfully dreamy, these are the two words that I think best describe what I saw at the Phuong My runway show on Friday night. It was probably the most wearable and retable collection I have seen at this year’s Telstra Perth Fashion Festival. And although it left some people feeling underwhelmed after theatrical shows like Empire Rose and Jaime Lee, I absolutely loved the collection for its subtle, feminine and elegant demeanour and for the incredible live jazz.the essentialist blog 11the essentialist blog 7As the rose petal adorned runway lit up and fresh faced models started appearing, Eva Scolaro gave a beautiful and powerful rendition of ‘Feeling Good’. It was the perfect song to open the show, energising the crowd and adding an even more glamourous and elegant appeal to the garments.Vietnamese designer Phuong My created a collection of timeless pieces, the cuts were clean, minimal and conservative and the colour palette was neutral, ranging from dusty greys to powder pinks, creamy whites and pops of yellow. The true art was in the perfect combination of minimalistic lines and her choice of luxurious fabrics – which she sourced from Paris, Milan and Hong Kong. The delicate designs were made from a range of silks, lace and organza and were adorned with glistening textured gold embroidery – a dream come true.the essentialist blog 5the essentialist blog 4the essentialist blog 9the essentialist blog 10 the essentialist blog
